Abstract
Objectives: This study is dedicated to exploring certain concepts by Abu Uthman, in the hope that it will serve as a valuable addition to the Arabic library. Delving into these critical theories enables us to gain a deeper understanding of both classical and contemporary literary criticism theories. Methodology: The nature of the study requires the use of the historical method to identify the features of the personality, trace its life, and document its scholarly contributions. This is followed by the descriptive-analytical method to examine, present, and analyze the critical material, and subsequently derive conclusions from it. Conclusion: Focusing on the Abbasid era and its distinctive features, such as the strength of the caliphate, the greatness of the caliphs, and the glory of the state influenced by previous civilizations, Al-Jahiz highly praised expression (wording). However, this does not mean that he prioritized it over meaning. Moreover, he did not refer solely to the individual word or the individual meaning.
