Abstract
Objectives: This paper is an audio-visual translation (AVT) task that aims at subtitling a video podcast titled "Liberty Amongst Islam." This video is produced by "Bdoun Waraq Podcast," guesting Dr. Nayef Al-Shammari. This podcast is in Arabic but contains style shifting between Standard Arabic and Kuwaiti Arabic. Methodology: The interviewer and the interviewee use numerous specialized terminology that pertains to religious issues. The study endeavours to address the following questions: To what extent is this kind of style-shifting translatable? To what extent can an English equivalent be found for such religious terminology?. Conclusion: The results of this project show that translating a video podcast of a language with style-shifting and specialized religious terminology is feasible, yet the matter is so subtle and encounters a number of challenges.
