Abstract
Objectives: The study investigated non-violent discipline strategy and public secondary school students' behaviour in Oroke High School, Akungba Akoko South-west, Ondo State, Nigeria. Methods: Cross-sectional survey with a 3-stage sampling technique was used to select the respondents in the study area. Forty (40) students each were selected among the three (3) senior classes (SS1-SS3) and 120 students were finally selected for the study. Results: The study concludes that non-violent strategies should be encouraged among public schools to enable quality teacher-student academic and mentoring relationships. Conclusions: The study recommends that Government be responsive to enacting laws against any form of violent discipline in the school environment, while teachers should be re-oriented to be more responsible with positive approaches towards student discipline.
