The Role of Resonant Leadership in Predicting Voice and Helping Behavior: The Mediating Role of Prosocial Motivation

Abstract
Objectives: The current research aimed to test the relationship between resonant leadership and both voice and helping behavior as two forms of prosocial behaviors in the workplace, and the role of prosocial motivation as a mediating variable in this relationship. Methods: The research relied on the descriptive analytical approach. The research community represented all employees in service and industrial organizations in the city of Taif in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The research sample amounted to (533) employees from these organizations, the number of which is (54) organizations. The SPSS program and the path analysis method were used through the (Smart PLS) program in analyzing the sample questionnaires. Results: The study reached a set of results, there is a significant positive relationship between resonant leadership and helping behavior while there is no significant relationship between resonant leadership and voice behavior. There is a significant positive relationship between resonant leadership and prosocial motivation. Prosocial motivation has a significant overall effect on the relationship between resonant leadership and voice behavior while it has a partial significant effect on the relationship between resonant leadership and helping behavior. Conclusions: The research presented a number of recommendations that would enhance the level of resonant leadership behaviors and practices, and prosocial motivation, which in turn is reflected in improving and enhancing prosocial behaviors such as voice behavior and helping behavior, and thus increasing the competitiveness of these organizations.
