Abstract
Objectives: The study aimed to demonstrate the impact of operating the Mashair Train with energy generated from recycling solid waste during the Hajj season on (transport sustainability, enhancing economic growth, social development, and the environment in Saudi Arabia, reliance on electrical energy, improving quality of life, and protecting future generations). Methods: The study used the analytical method, which relies on analyzing statistical methods using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), and utilized a questionnaire distributed to a sample of Hajj and Umrah system workers and pilgrims. Results: The study concluded with several findings, the most important of which is that operating the Mashair Train with energy generated from recycling solid waste during the Hajj season has a positive impact on transport sustainability. Among the most prominent effects, operating trains with energy generated from recycling solid waste during the Hajj season leads to reduced transportation costs for pilgrims. Conclusions: The study recommended several important points, including raising awareness about the importance of waste management and sustainable practices in transportation among pilgrims, Umrah performers, and Hajj and Umrah system workers. Additionally, it recommended establishing a clear framework for managing the solid waste sector, which includes the proper collection, transportation, and treatment of waste, and focusing on education and training in waste management and energy production.
