Abstract
Objectives: This study aims to introduce the reader to one of the greatest "Sufi" poets who became famous for their praise of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during the early Mamluk era, namely the poet Abu Zakariya Yahya ibn Yusuf al-Sarsari. He lived in Baghdad and died there as a martyr when it fell in 656 AH. The study generally examines the origins of the Muhammadan Reality theory, which the Sufis believed in, and demonstrates the extent to which it is reflected in al-Sarsari's poetry in general. Furthermore, this study focuses on an important aspect of the Muhammadan Reality theory and its implications: the issue of seeking intercession through the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in al-Sarsari's poetry and his prophetic praises, in which he excelled. It delves into exploring the meanings, types, and objectives of this intercession. Methodology: The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach based on applied readings of the panegyrics to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) composed by the poet al-Sarsari, focusing on the aspects of the Muhammadan Light theory contained within them, particularly those related to supplication through the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him.). Conclusion: The study concludes that supplication through the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the panegyrics to the Prophet in Sufi poetry is diverse in its forms, imagery, and objectives. It also concludes that this supplication had a positive and vital role in strengthening the poet's psychological resilience during the Mongol invasion. This was manifested in his steadfastness in the face of the invaders and his resistance to them with all his might, even to the point of challenging them with a staff and stones before his martyrdom.
