The Degree of Commitment of Basic Public-School Principals in Jerusalem to the Ethics of Leadership from the Perspectives of Teachers

Abstract
Objectives: The study aimed to identify the degree of commitment of basic public-school principals to the ethics of school leadership from the teachers' perspectives, and to identify the impact of the variables: gender, experience, and qualification, on the responses of the teachers, regarding the degree of commitment of basic public-school principals to ethics of leadership. Methods: To achieve the objectives of the study, descriptive analytical approach was used, and a questionnaire was used as a tool of the study. The population of the study was (3979) teachers from elementary public schools in Jerusalem. Results: The results showed that the degree of commitment of basic public-school principals to the ethics of leadership from the teachers' perspectives was in a high degree, and that there were statistically significant differences in the teachers' responses regarding the degree of commitment of basic public- school principals to the ethics of school leadership in the variables of gender, in favor of males, and qualification. There are no statistically significant differences in teachers' responses regarding the degree of commitment of basic governmental school principals to the ethics of school leadership due to experience. Conclusions: The study recommended training courses for basic public schools principals' on skills and behaviors related to ethical leadership, and enhancing cooperation between principals and teachers on the other hand through cooperative work in promoting ethical leadership in schools and providing material and moral incentives by The Ministry of Education.
