Abstract
Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the theoretical structure of the concept of family quality of life through a comprehensive critical review of the historical and conceptual development of this concept from 1948 to 2025. Methods: The study employed a systematic theoretical review approach, selecting 38 scholarly sources from peer-reviewed databases for the period 2014-2025. Results: The comparative analysis yielded the development of an integrative definition of family quality of life that encompasses material, spiritual, and emotional needs within a framework of relationships characterized by understanding, support, and adaptation to challenges. Five key interactive dimensions were identified: family relationships, mental health, economic balance, parental control, and effective communication. Conclusions: The study provides a contemporary theoretical framework that integrates subjective and objective dimensions of family quality of life, thereby distinguishing it from previous literature that addressed these dimensions in a fragmented manner. This framework supports the development of more precise measurement tools and forms a foundation for future research and social and educational policies aimed at enhancing family cohesion and achieving sustainable well-being in Arabic contexts.
