Abstract
Objectives: This study aimed to design and calibrate a tool for assessing prospective competencies among young individuals, while also examining its psychometric properties in terms of validity and reliability, alongside analyzing its factorial structure. Methods: The study employed a descriptive-analytical methodology, utilizing a Likert-scale questionnaire with a five-point rating system. The tool was developed within the Palestinian context and administered to a research sample consisting of 432 male and female participants from Jenin Governorate. Results: The findings demonstrated high levels of validity, including both content and construct validity, as well as strong internal consistency and split-half reliability. Factorial analysis revealed that the tool measures six key dimensions: future decision-making ability, cognitive representation of the future, strategic foresight planning, event anticipation, positive orientation towards the future, and problem-solving skills for future challenges. Conclusions: The study recommended the adoption of this tool due to its clear factorial structure and its 32-item composition, which effectively evaluates youth's future-oriented cognitive competencies.
