The Role of the School in Developing Citizenship Values Among Upper Basic Sage Students in Nablus Governorate

Abstract
Objectives: The study aimed to identify the role of educational institutions in developing citizenship values among students in the upper basic stage in Nablus Governorate. Also, the study aims to identify the extent to which many demographic variables influence them. Methods: Descriptive approach was used by administration the questionnaire to a simple random sample consisting of (500) male and female students from schools in Nablus Governorate. Results: The results showed that the role of school curricula in developing citizenship values among students was rated as moderate. Moreover, there are no statistically significant differences attributed to the variables of gender, class and school activities. In light of the results of the study, several recommendations were suggested, the most important of which are: specialized committee to prepare a plan and guide for citizenship values that includes effective procedures, strategies, and methods for disseminating and circulating them throughout the pillars of the school educational process should be formed. Conclusions: This study showed that the school curricula have a major role in developing citizenship values. Moreover, it showed that school, teachers, and students' parents have leading roles in developing the students' national values.
