The Predictive Ability of Cyberchondria Disorder with Digital Addiction among a Sample of Saudi University Students in Jeddah

Abstract
Objectives: The current study aimed to reveal the level of both cyberchondria disorder and digital addiction in a sample of Saudi university students in Jeddah, as well as the relationship between cyberchondria disorder and digital addiction. It also aimed to reveal the role of cyberchondria disorder as a predictor of digital addiction, and the differences in both cyberchondria disorder and digital addiction in light of gender. Methods: The descriptive approach was used to verify the objectives of the study, the sample consisted of (330) Saudi university students in Jeddah, including (150 males, 180 females), their ages ranged between(19-26) years, The cyberchondria disorder scale set up by (Fergus and Spada 2018), translated by Al-Abdali and Al-Mutref (2024) and the digital addiction scale set up by Al-Qaisi (2024) were applied to them. Results: The results revealed a predictive value for cyberchondria disorder in digital addiction, and female students were higher than male students in cyberchondria disorder, while there were no differences between them in digital addiction. Conclusions: The study recommended the need to provide guidance and treatment programs to reduce the severity of digital addiction and the disorder of searching for medical information via the Internet.
