Abstract
Objectives: The current study aimed to identify the attitudes of children without disabilities towards their parents with disabilities in Jordan in light of the variables of gender, age and type of disability. Methods: The study adopted the descriptive survey method, which is based on identifying the characteristics of the phenomenon, describing its nature, clarifying the relationships between variables, their causes, and directions, and understanding its reality on the ground by interpreting the results of the current situation through the collection, analysis, and interpretation of all data, and drawing conclusions. The study sample consisted of 64 non-disabled children who have one or both parents with a sensory or physical/health disability. Results: The results of the study showed that the attitudes of non-disabled children towards their parents with disabilities were positive and within low limits. The results did not show statistically significant differences in the attitudes of non-disabled children towards their parents with disabilities according to the variables of the children's gender and age, or the gender of their parents or the type of their disability. Conclusions: In light of the results of the study, the researchers recommended the need to provide training programs aimed at improving the attitudes of non-disabled children towards their parents with disabilities, and to conduct more studies related to attitudes in light of other variables not addressed by the current study.
