Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education in the Sultanate of Oman

Abstract
Objectives: The study aims to raise awareness and knowledge of artificial intelligence applications in education, identify the most prominent uses of artificial intelligence applications in education, and identify the most prominent artificial intelligence tools used that suit the reality of public education schools in the Sultanate of Oman. Methods: To achieve the study objectives, a questionnaire was applied that included a list of the most prominent and latest applications of artificial intelligence in education in order to identify the most important applications used in education in the Sultanate of Oman and the most appropriate uses of artificial intelligence applications in education that are compatible with the reality of Omani schools, and their areas of use, and to identify a list of the latest artificial intelligence tools that can be used in the education sector. Results: The study found that the level of teachers' awareness of artificial intelligence applications was high while the level of teachers' knowledge of the uses of artificial intelligence applications was moderate, and the level of teachers' awareness and knowledge of artificial intelligence tools was moderate. The role of public education schools in activating artificial intelligence applications in education obtained a general average moderate. The role of teachers in using artificial intelligence applications in the educational process on the ground was at an average level, the study also came up with a list of the most prominent and appropriate applications used, their areas of use, and the most prominent experiments and initiatives. Conclusions: The study recommended the necessity of adopting a clear strategy to raise awareness of artificial intelligence applications in education and train teachers to use them in a way that serves the development of the educational process, to benefit from the list of uses of artificial intelligence in schools and the list of artificial intelligence tools that suit the reality of our schools, and to include them in teacher qualification programs to use and benefit from them in their field of work.
