Abstract
The current study aimed to prepare a proposed scenario for developing the performance of basic education school principals in managing crises in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. To achieve the goal of the study, the researcher relied on the descriptive approach, in studying the reality of school principals' performance in the field of crisis management and relied on the future studies approach in building the proposed scenario. To collect information and field data, the researcher developed a questionnaire consisting of six areas, which was applied to a representative sample of the original community consisting of (86) male and female directors in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate; it was chosen by a simple random method. The study reached a set of results, the most important of which are: The level of performance of principals of basic education schools in crisis management in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah in the Sultanate of Oman is great, with the highest level of communication domain, and the lowest is planning domain, with the medium level. The domains of direction and organization were a large level while the domains of decision-making and evaluation got a medium level. The results also showed no statistically significant differences at the significance degree (alpha less than 0.05) in six crisis management aspects attributed to the variables of sex and administrative experience. There are no statistically significant differences at the significance degree (alpha less than 0.05) in the aspects of planning, communication, and crisis management as a whole attributed to the variable of academic qualification. There are also no statistically significant differences at the significance degree (alpha less than 0.05) in the organization and guidance aspects in favor of the holder of master's and higher degrees. There are statistically significant differences at the significance degree (alpha less than 0.05) in the aspects of decision making and assessment in favor of the holder of bachelor and lower degrees. In light of the study results, the researcher recommends making use of the proposed conceptualization in developing the performance of the school principals in crisis management, especially at the level of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, and at the level of the Ministry of Education in general.
