The Relationship between Psychological Resilience and Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction among Elite Arab National Volleyball Players

Abstract
Objectives: This study aimed to determine the level of psychological resilience and satisfaction of basic psychological needs among Arab elite national volleyball team players, and to examine the relationship between them. Methods: The study adopted a descriptive–correlational approach. The study population consisted of all registered players in the Arab elite national volleyball teams participating in the totaling 84 players according to the official records. A comprehensive census method was used. Statistical analysis was conducted on 66 valid responses from the study population. Results: The findings indicated that the levels of psychological resilience and satisfaction of basic psychological needs among Arab elite national volleyball players were very high, with response rates of 85.57% and 88.18%, respectively. The results also revealed a statistically significant positive relationship between psychological resilience and satisfaction of basic psychological needs, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.51 and a simple regression value of 0.266. Conclusions: The study concluded that both psychological resilience and satisfaction of basic psychological needs were at very high levels among Arab elite national volleyball players, and that a positive relationship exists between them.
