Abstract
Objectives: The study aimed to explore the role of student activities offered at Sohar University in developing citizenship among students. Methods: Using the descriptive approach in a qualitative manner. To achieve this goal, a content analysis card was prepared, encompassing four axes: student participation, national belonging and loyalty, volunteering and group work, and personal and social responsibility. Results: The study concluded that the third and first axes ranked first with a high level of availability for both. In contrast, the second and fourth axes obtained a good level of availability. It was noted that the availability of axes in the plan was not logically balanced; the first axis was supposed to constitute only 30% but exceeded that to 36%. Similarly, the third axis should not have exceeded 20% but went up to 34%, which in turn affected the other axes. The second axis, which should have been available at 20%, constituted only 15%, and the same applied to the fourth axis, which should have formed 30% but did not exceed 15%. Conclusions: Based on these results, the study recommends balancing the axes of the plan by intensifying programs that deepen personal and social responsibility among students, focusing on programs that encourage national belonging and loyalty, and developing the university's student activities plan.
