Abstract
Objectives: The study aimed at identifying the Degree to which tenth graders possess life skills in public schools in Palestine. Methods: It utilized the analytical descriptive approach, and its sample, which was selected through the stratified random method, consisted of (1941) male and female students. The study tool was used, which is the life skills scale prepared by the researchers. Its validity and reliability have been confirmed. Results: The study revealed the following results. Firstly, the degree of the tenth-grade students' possession of life skills is a moderate one on the total score of the domains. Second, there are statistically significant differences between the averages of the degree of students' possession of life skills on the total score of the domains due to the variables: (sex, student rate, desire to join the educational branch, place of residence and directorate). The differences were for the gender variable in favor of females with an average effect size, and in favor of averages (90-100), (80-89.9) for the student average variable, and with a large effect size. As for the variable of desire to join the educational branch, the differences came in favor of the scientific branch, with a large effect size. Furthermore, the differences of the place of residence variable came in favor of the camp, with a small effect size, while the differences were in favor of the education directorates of the northern region for the directorate variable with a medium effect size. Conclusions: The study had several recommendations. First, it is urgent to include the field of life skills improvement among secondary school students in the school plan. Second, life skills have to be incorporated in all secondary school subjects in systematically. Moreover, they have to be distributed in a way that achieves balance and integration and corresponds with the nature of the study subject.
