Abstract
Objectives: The study aims to clarify the ruling on persisting in minor sins and its impact from a jurisprudential perspective. The study also addresses an important question: Does persisting in minor sins transform them from minor to major?. Methods: The study relied on two scientific methods: the inductive method, which involves collecting relevant texts from the Qur'an and Sunnah, and the analytical method, which involves gathering, interpreting, and critiquing information. Conclusions: The study concluded that minor sins, when persisted in, are conditional upon predominance. Therefore, the ruling on persisting in minor sins is conditional upon predominance; their presence is presence, and their absence is absence. The Sunnis believe that whoever commits a major or minor sin does not leave Islam and does not become an unbeliever, even if they die without repenting, contrary to the Mu'tazila and Kharijites.
Keywords: persistence, minority, sin, Sharia, repentance
