Abstract
Objectives: The research aims to address the issues of family rulings from the perspective of the legislation contained in the family protection articles in the Personal Status Law in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and compare them with what is contained in the International Covenant Law, to show the level of difference in the development of legislation between the two systems, and the extent of its strength, comprehension, stability and comprehensiveness. Methods: The research adopted the analytical approach by studying the objectives inferred from the texts of legislation used in the field of study, and the comparative approach by studying those inferred objectives and demonstrating the extent to which these legislations are compatible with the reality of societies in the world. Conclusions: After the study, it became clear that the Saudi Personal Status Law is capable of absorbing all the requirements of the provisions for family protection, and that it is keen on the status of the family in society in a way that is superior to the Personal Status Law in international conventions in terms of comprehensiveness and lack thereof, in terms of the reliability of legislative sources and lack thereof, and in terms of flexibility and lack thereof, since the Personal Status Law in international conventions cannot confront some of the emerging social issues, which forces those in charge of it to interpret it in incorrect ways, and sometimes leads to unrealistic bias.
