The Islamic Foundations of Coexistence with Others

Abstract
Objectives: This research aims to clarify the concept of peaceful coexistence, its Islamic foundation, and to determine the rules of coexistence with others according to the Islamic foundations. Methodology: To achieve the research objectives and answer the research questions, the researcher employed the inductive method to examine the religious texts and scholars' opinions on this topic, followed by the analytical method to analyze these texts. Conclusion: The research revealed a number of results, the most prominent of which are: coexistence is a purely human term, and does not mean detachment from principles and norms or changing the constants and fixed Islamic rulings, the call for peaceful coexistence with those who differ in belief stems from Islamic foundations and starting points, the first of which is the Qur'an and the second is the Sunnah, and it relies on applications throughout the different Islamic eras, freedom of belief, justice, mercy, tolerance and human dignity are among the Islamic values and moral principles that promote peaceful coexistence with others. The researcher recommends studying this topic from the point of intersection of coexistence with the concepts of loyalty and disavowal.
