Abstract

Objectives: The study aims to identify the negative effects of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies on individuals and societies, particularly those related to human identity, psychological well-being, and the ethical system. It also seeks to determine the role of national and international institutions in enhancing societal awareness and promoting the responsible use of technology. Methods: The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach through reviewing and analyzing the literature and previous studies related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, its characteristics, and its impacts, with particular emphasis on the risks associated with controlling intelligent technologies, their psychological and ethical implications, and the role of institutions in mitigating these risks. Results: The study found that the Fourth Industrial Revolution has contributed to significant developments in human life and innovation. However, the uncontrolled use of its technologies may lead to loss of control, increased anxiety, isolation, and fear of the future, in addition to negatively affecting values and social relationships. The findings also highlighted the important role of families, educational institutions, media organizations, and civil society institutions in raising awareness of these risks. Conclusions: The study emphasizes the need to strengthen national and international efforts and to develop awareness-raising and regulatory programs that ensure the responsible use of technology, thereby achieving a balance between benefiting from technological advancement and preserving human identity, dignity, and ethical values.
