Veterinary Medicine and Public Health Journal (VMPH) is an international, online, open access, peer-reviewed journal that aims for rapid publication and dissemination of research involving basic and clinical veterinary medicine, zoonotic diseases, biological sciences and public health.

Submit a Manuscript


The journal will publish research articles related to all aspects of veterinary medicine including but not limited to veterinary infectious diseases, veterinary pathology, immunology, zoonotic diseases, one health concepts, veterinary biotechnology, food microbiology, meat and milk sciences, epidemiology, animal nutrition and nutritional diseases, veterinary internal medicine, theriogenology, veterinary surgery, genetics, , biology, biochemistry, animal science, diagnostic imaging, hematology and biochemistry.

Submission

Authors are requested to submit their papers electronically by e-mail attachments to Editorial office: editorvmbh@refaad.com . All correspondence, including notification of the Editor's decision and requests for revision, takes place by e-mail.

Before submission, ensure all authors have seen and approved the final version of the article. A cover letter must be submitted along with the manuscript that introduces your paper and outline why your work is important and suitable for publication in the Journal.

Submission Declaration

Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously, that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere including electronically, in English or in any other language.

Page Count

Authors are encouraged to write concisely. As a guide, regular articles should be at most 30 page.

Manuscript Preperation:

•• Structure:

The authors should take care of the following items in their manuscripts:

• Title

Title page is a separated page before the text. Provide the following information on the title page (in the order given). It should include: title, author’s names and affiliations, corresponding author, and sponsoring information if there is.

• Authors

Provide full names, complete affiliations, and e-mail addresses for all authors with in the paper. Only one author should be the corresponding author.

•Abstract

A concise and factual abstract is required (maximum length of 300 words). The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the principal results and major conclusions. An abstract is often presented separate from the article, so it must be able to stand alone. References should therefore be avoided, but if essential, they must be cited in full, without reference to the reference list.

•Keywords

A maximum of 5 keywords must be placed after the abstract. It must be unique and does not repeat words from the title.

•Introduction

The introduction must provide concise and current information regarding the subject of the research conducted in the paper. Use only current and relevant references in the introduction. In the last paragraph, explain the theory behind the research being reported and clearly state the aims of the research.

• Material and Methods

Use structured style using appropriate subheadings. Include a detailed description of all materials, methods and experiments conducted in the research project. Include a statment of ethical standards followed in conducting the experiments using human or animal subjects. Explain atatistical methods used to analyse the data. The SI international system of measurement units should be used. Results: Use subheadings if possible. All results and their statistical analysis must be presented here. Results can be presented in tables or using graphs. Do mot present same data using tables and graphs.

• Discussion

Results and discussion could be combined. In the discussion, compare your results to previously published data in the field.

• Acknowledgments

Place acknowledgments, if there are any, near the end of the paper, preceding the references.

•Conflict of Interests

Any conflict of interests must be declared.

•References

References in the main text must agree with those in the list of references.
In the text, references are cited using authors last names and year of publication in parenthesis,
examples one author (Ismail 2017), 2 authors (Ricciotti and FitzGerald 2011).
If more than 2 authors are cited, they are listed by the last name of the first author followed by et al. (Radostits et al. 2007).
If more than one reference are cited in the same sentence, they are arranged chronologically (Radostits et al. 2007; Doll et al. 2009; Ricciotti and FitzGerald 2011).
If more than one paper by the same author published in the same year are cited, they must be differentiated by Year, b, c both in the text and the list of references.
In the list of references at the end of the manuscript, references are listed in an alphabetical order by the authors last names followed by their initials. The year of publication (cited in brackets)

•Peer Review Process

  1. All submitted manuscripts are given full consideration for possible publication in the Journal.
  2. submitted manuscripts will be initially evaluated by the Editorial Board for suitability and formatting.
  3. If the manuscript is found suitable for publication, it will be subjected to external peer review using the single blind method whereby the authors are blinded to the identity of the reviewers and editors.

•Upon Acceptance

Editable files are required for processing in production. If your manuscript contains any non-editable files (such as PDFs) you will be required to re-submit an editable file (MS-Word) if your manuscript is accepted.

Veterinary Medicine and Public Health Journal (VMPH) deals with basic and clinical veterinary medicine, zoonotic diseases, biological sciences and public health. And we aspire to index and adopt it's contents within the scientific databases.

The Journal will not charge any publishing fees until the date of 1-1-2020

Ethics of publishing

  1. Integrity :
    The authors shall abide by the ethics of scientific publishing and the manuscripts will be subject to a plagiarism detection review by using ihinticate. Any article that does not comply with the ethics of publishing shall be rejected. furthermore, any manuscript that is subsequently submitted by an another whereby it is proven that it does not comply with the ethics of publishing shall be rejected

  2. Copyright:
    By submitting a manuscript, the authors agree that the copyright for their article is transferred to the journal, if and when, the paper is accepted for publication. The published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided each paper is properly cited.

  3. Conflict of interest:
    Authors are required to declare to the Editor-in-Chief any Conflict of Interest that may have affected their research or decision to submit to the journal. Reviewers are required to declare if they have any Conflict of Interest that may affect their judgment of any article they review and they must be declared to the Editor-in-Chief as soon as it is known. Editors are excluded from any publishing decision in which they may have a Conflict of Interest.

Procedures and stages

  1. Submission of the manuscript:
    • Manuscripts along with annexes thereto are sent to the journal via electronic mail
    • Or the manuscript is uploaded electrically to the website of the journal
    • The manuscript shall be accompanied, in a separate file, with a brief profile of the author, his place of work and email address.
    • The author shall be notified about the receipt of the article
    • the author need to pay the article processing charges as shown on journal website
  2. The review :
    1. Preliminary examination :
      • The editorial board shall examine the manuscript to determine whether it is in compliance with the formal publishing rules and whether it is eligible for the review process
      • In the preliminary examination, the editorial board applies rules such as: suitability of the subject for the journal; type pf paper ( research paper or otherwise ); language accuracy, documentation relevance ( according to rules approved by the journal); observance of the ethics of scientific publishing; absence of any reference in the manuscript and bibliography / reference list and any other formal publishing rules declared by the journal.
      • The author shall be notified upon receipt of the manuscript and the result of the Preliminary examination
      • The journal may add a phase labeled “completing and improving the research” in the event that the journal decides that the manuscript is promising however, it is in need on improvements prior to entering the review process. In such a phase, the journal shall provide the author with guidance and recommendations that would lead him onto the path of such improvement that will assist in ensuring the “eligibility” of the manuscript for the review process.
    2. The review:
      • Every manuscript shall be subject to a single blind review performed by peers.
      • The editorial board shall inform the author of its decisions, a summary of the remarks, required amendments if needed. This is accompanied by the reviewers’ reports of summaries thereof.
      • The reviewers shall remain anonymous in the report sent to the author
    3. introducing modifications :
      • The author shall make the necessary modifications to the manuscript based on the results of the review process and shall resend it to the journal showing the modifications in “track changes”.
      • The author shall indicate in a separate file that accompanies the modified manuscript his responses to all the points raised in the editorial board’s letter and the reports submitted by the reviewers.
    4. Acceptance and rejection :
      • the journal shall reserve the right to accept or reject the manuscript based on the author’s adherence to the publication requirements and the requirements of the journal’s editorial board .

Formal rules (preliminary examination)

  1. Topic relevance:
    • The topic of the manuscript shall fall within the academic focus of the journal ( as reported by the journal)
  2. The text :
    • The title and the author’s full name shall be in English language.
    • The manuscript shall include:
      • An abstract in a single paragraph (maximum length of 300 words). The abstract describes the topic, methodology, the main findings, and the conclusion.
      • A maximum of 5 keywords must be placed after the abstract.
    • The abstract and key words shall be prepared in English language
    • The text shall be fluent and linguistically correct ً
  3. Tables and charts:
    • The tables, figures and charts shall be prepared as required by the formatting and style guide adopted by the journal
  4. Size :
    • The text shall comply with the minimum and maximum limits in terms of the number of words required by the journal

Content rules

  1. The scientific (theoretical) framework
    • There is a research problem worthy of investigation. It shows that one or more aspects of the fact under study are not known by the scientific community (literature) and that they need to be revealed.
  2. The methodology :
    • The research method shall be suitable to the problem under investigation.
    • The research methods are rigorous, accurate and logical.
    • Data analysis procedures shall be logical and should provide opportunities to answer the questions and extrapolate the results to new situations.
    • The manuscript shall provide information and ideas that constitute an added value in its field or in the approach to the research problem.
    • The research paper presents information and ideas that add to its field or approach the problem at hand
      1. In quantitative research
        • There is a thorough review of the Arabic and international literature, covering the most important works and justifying the research of the topic and research questions and the review is presented in the form of academic - intellectual pleading (not a consecutive list of abstracts). In a way that reflects the intellectual position of the author and help to put the research in the appropriate scientific framework.
        • Research questions are academic / intellectual questions that logically derive from the theoretical framework and from the literature review and target ambiguous points that need to be clarified.
        • The hypotheses are in the form of initial answers to the raised questions, and logically derive from the review of literature and contextual data.
        • The samples are justified and / or representative, and the instrument used is correct, consistent and suitable for research.
        • The way of presenting the data is precise.
        • The subject matter as presented in the title and literature review is consistent with the collection and analysis of information while avoiding slipping from the topic itself to the "viewpoint" of the audience.
      2. In qualitative research
        • The studied materials (documents, texts, observations, statements, answers, etc.) have credibility and significance and their selection is justified.
        • The approach is clear, whether it is ethnographic, philosophical, or historical. The research method is specific, whether it is based on content analysis, case study, viewing or extrapolating data, or seeking grounded theory.
        • The researcher determines his background and direction, which helps to understand his choice of subject and method of research and his interpretation of the results.
  3. The results:
    • Clearly responds to the research questions and provide added value in the field of research
  4. The conclusion and discussion :
    • Here, the author summarizes the main results and provide that these results add to the knowledge base on the research topic as compared with previous literature and in relation to educational theories and discusses differences and areas of consensus within the research context.
  5. The recommendations :
    • Recommendations should refer to matters that need further research .

Responsibilities of the Editor

The Cheif-Editor of VMPH is responsible for both deciding which articles submitted to the journal shall be published, and for everything published in the Journal.

In making these decisions, Editor can be refer to policies of the Journal’s editorial board and check the plagiarism, defamation, and copyright.

The Cheif-Editor can communicate with other editors and with the reviewers while making decisions about publication and be ready to publish corrections, clarifications of the withdrawal reasons, and apologies when needed.

The Cheif-Editor shall not divulge any information about a submission being considered to anyone other than the Author, the Editorial board members, the Reviewer and potential reviewers, as appropriate.

Reviewer’s contribution

VMPH follows blind peer review policy. The paper is sent to the reviewer to review the paper in the light of journal's guidelines and features of a quality research paper. For papers which require changes, the same reviewer will be used to ensure that the quality of the revised paper is acceptable.

Promptitude

Any requested Reviewer who feels incompetent to referee the reported research results or realizes that its timely review is not possible shall promptly inform the Editor so that other reviewers can be considered.

Authorship of a submission

Authorship of a submission Authorship shall be restricted to those who have made a major contribution to the idea, plan, carrying out, or analysis of the submitted research. All persons who have made major contributions should be listed as legitimate co-authors. If there are others participants in certain important phases of the research, they should be named in an Acknowledgement section.

The corresponding author shall ensure that all legitimate co-authors and no illegitimate co-authors are present in the author list of the submission, and that all co-authors have read and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Any addition, deletion or rearrangement of author names in the authorship list should be made only before the manuscript has been accepted and only if approved by the Editor. To request such a change, the Editor must receive from the corresponding author the reason for the change in author list and written confirmation (e-mail, letter) from all authors that they agree with the addition, removal or rearrangement. In the case of addition or removal of authors, this includes confirmation from the author being added or removed.

Fundamental errors in published works

When Author discovers an important error or incorrectness in her/his own published work, it is the Author’s duty to immediately notify the Editor or Publisher and cooperate with them to either retract the paper or to publish an appropriate erratum.
Any addition, deletion or rearrangement of author names in the authorship list should be made only before the manuscript has been accepted and only if approved by the Editor. To request such a change, the Editor must receive from the corresponding author the reason for the change in author list and written confirmation (e-mail, letter) from all authors that they agree with the addition, removal or rearrangement. In the case of addition or removal of authors, this includes confirmation from the author being added or removed.

Publisher’s confirmation

In cases of alleged or proven scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication or plagiarism the publisher, in close collaboration with the Editor-in-Chief, will take all appropriate measures to clarify the situation and to amend the article in question. This includes the prompt publication of an erratum or, in the most severe cases, the complete retraction of the affected work. The Publisher and the Journal do not discriminate on the basis of age, color, religion, creed, disability, marital status, veteran status, national origin, race, gender, genetic predisposition or carrier status, or sexual orientation in its publishing programs, services and activities.

The Journal binds itself to ensure that advertising, reprint or other commercial income shall have no effect on editorial decisions.
